“New National Roles for Older People announced”
Following the retirement of Professor John Young as NHS England's National Clinical Director for Integration and Frail & Elderly Care, two new appointments have been made to cover the Older People portfolio.
Dr Martin Vernon has been appointed the new NHS England National Clinical Director for Older People, with Fusion48's Dr Dawn Moody appointed as Associate National Director.
Martin Vernon is Consultant Geriatrician and Associate Head of Division for Medicine and Community Services at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is also Hon. Research Fellow at Manchester University and Hon. Senior Lecturer at Salford University where he teaches Masters level medical ethics and law. See NHS England website for full bio.
As well as Dawn's directorship of Fusion48, she is a GP in Derbyshire who has a special interest in frailty and person-centred systems of care, is Clinical Director for Health Education England (East Midlands) Nottinghamshire Frailty Toolkit and Training Programme and also Frailty Lead for the West Midlands Primary Care Workforce and Improved Patient Access Plan, Prime Minister’s GP Access Fund Wave 2 Scheme.
